Information
Ananda is a Sanskrit word that translates to "the place of bliss" or "happiness" found in the Vedas, the Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita. It is related to the word samadhi, the 8th limb of yoga, which also means bliss. Both words refer to the blissful and peaceful state upon liberation from samsara, or the endless cycle of death and rebirth. Ananda can also refer to total union with God, or the Ultimate Reality called Brahman in Hindu tradition.
According to Hindu sacred texts this liberation and bliss is achieved through renunciation of worldly desires and total submission to God.
