Challenge Pose: Upward Dog
Inhale. Press into the hands and the top of the feet. Lift the thighs up, and look up.
Upward Dog or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana is our first backbend as part of our first Sun Salutation, and is one of my favorite foundational postures because it feels so freeing.
Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutations start the Primary Series with a burst of energy, preparing and warming the body for the deeper movements to come. This is where we begin to establish coordinated breath to movement and allow Prana to fill the body. Inhale. Exhale. Try warming up with 5 Sun Salutations whenever you do your yoga practice.
