From Black Girl in Om
Black Girl In Om recognizes the guiding light in our collective. Established in 2014, we sparkled far before the world called us magic. The reality is, under the glitter, Black women over-index in health disparities around the globe. Yet, we brilliantly possess the power to prevent, cure, and carry dis-ease out of our lives by inviting healing possibilities into our psyche. BGIO rewrites the narrative of what 'well-being' looks like to ourselves and in our communities.
While Black women’s outer work receives public accolades—often reluctantly—BGIO was born to elevate the inner work first. We are so proud to have influenced a movement and cultivated a culture that is now needing to see the whole of us, today and beyond.
For the last six years, we’ve leaned into our calling to usher in a new era of service and accessibility—intentionally making space for us to breathe easy where there wasn’t space for us to be. Many of you have been rocking with BGIO from the beginning and we’re still offering the goodies you’ve come to love: curated content and experiences designed for black women. Growth allows us to be both consistent and innovative with this platform. We’ve still got the classics and, with skin-the-game, we’re introducing the fresh. In all we do: we create, represent, co-create, and breathe with authenticity for all of us. Always have, always will. Now, we’re introducing a community-centered digital membership and more of what you need as a Black Girl In Om.
