Information
Jerusalem is one of the greatest political and religious hotspots in the world, with people of Israel, Palestine, and Christians from around the world holding a stake in the holy lands within and around the city.
Jerusalem is home to one of the most visually recognized and contentious structures in the world, an Islamic temple known as the Dome of the Rock or al-Haram al-Sharif, completed in 692 CE. The Dome of the Rock is contentious because it is in the same location as the old the temple mount, which was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE and remains a sacred site for the people of Israel. Because of this history, both Israel and Palestine consider Jerusalem to be their capitol.
Jerusalem has a long history, and though it has been home to a great deal of conflict, hopefully it will soon become the "city of peace" for all the world.
