It’s like every piece of me comes alive

Moments from my #Ashtanga practice.

I love the feeling of being in the middle of practice. It’s like every piece of me comes alive from my eyeballs to the skin on the back of my knees. I love the feeling of being so hypnotized by my big toe that I forget I’m standing on one leg, and balance miraculously becomes easier. There really aren’t words for the experience. It still takes my breath away, and so I keep practicing.

Some days, I have more resistance to practicing than others. Some days I have more energy than others. Some days I’m tighter than others. But the longer I do this I realize that it doesn’t really matter how “good” any given practice is or how strong/flexible I am any given day.

All that matters is simply the effort to try. The determined decision to choose life for every fiber of my being, from my eyeballs to the skin on the back of my knees. And so I keep practicing.
