Patience.

... is a virtue I was not born with, and so Spirit has been kind enough to provide me with plenty of opportunities to test my patience. Thank you for helping me to grow. But after a certain amount of waiting, and waiting and waiting... you start to look around like, "Sooooo...was something supposed to happen?"

The period of expectancy. Somewhere between the almost and the not yet. This can be any type of breakthrough you're waiting for that, no matter how far you go, it always seems to be just out of reach. If we were to take a step backward, it may almost look like a carrot dangled in front of us.

It can be frustrating to have a carrot dangled in front of your face that you can't have, especially when you know that it's yours and at some point you will have it. It's just a matter of waiting... patiently. So what matters, then is what you do during this time of waiting.

It seems, dear family, that we are put through times of waiting because as awesome as we might be and as far as we've come already, we just aren't ready for the carrot. It takes a certain level of humility to acknowledge this, but it is important because that is the only way we will accept the steps necessary to prepare. It is much more frustrating to look at what could be for the rest of your life only to later realize what you could have attained if you had made some necessary changes a long time ago.

And so, Spirit is encouraging us to be self reflective, be honest with ourselves and take action. What are you doing that is holding you back? What can you do today or what new behavior pattern would help you to change it? I promise you, the moment you take earnest and meaningful action, you will see a breakthrough.

But on another level, long periods of patience and expectancy can also prove as a time to force us to live in the present moment. When you are expecting something, you are looking toward the future, which can create anxiety. Sometimes we can be so rigid about the way we want things to be that we block the flow of how it actually needs to come to pass. So release any rigidity or needing things to be a certain way and relax into just enjoying life. And miraculously, sometimes this relaxed state is all that is needed for things to flow to us.

And so, today we're tapping into our patience by slowing down the breath, taking long slow inhalations - and long, slow exhalations, pausing between each. Breathing through the nose. And as we intentionally slow down our breathing, the mind begins to calm down, and the anxious edge that worries about the future softens.

As you relax into the flow, whatever you're expecting will pop up when you least expect it, and that's the point. It wouldn't be a surprise otherwise!
